You are in complete control and it is movies and stage hypnosis that give the false belief that a hypnotist can take control of your mind.

You need to remember that at the stage hypnosis show the hypnotist is asking for volunteers to get up on the stage and have fun making a fool of themselves.

The volunteers know what to expect and want the experience.

Nothing they do on stage is against their will despite the stage hypnotist giving the illusion that they have power over peoples minds, that is just part of the show.

When you are having a clinical hypnosis session you are following the directions of the hypnotherapist to make the changes you want to make.

If the hypnotherapist makes a suggestion you don’t want to follow then you can simply ignore the suggestion just like you would in your normal everyday life.

These terms are often used interchangeably.
